This displays basic shooting information including, starting from the top, the shutter speed and lens aperture, the metering pattern in use, whether you’re using a fixed ISO or the camera’s auto ISO mode, the battery life and memory card status (which of the two are in use) and, on the bottom row, the ISO setting and the remaining capacity of the memory card in shots remaining at the current settings.
The exposure data will disappear after a few seconds if the camera isn’t used, but you can re-activate it by briefly half-pressing the shutter release button [02].
This control panel will also show changes you make to the settings when pressing a button and turning a command dial, for example the ISO button [22] or white balance button [24].
Most of the time this top control panel is all you need for checking and changing settings, but you can also use the much larger rear LCD screen by pressing the info button [19].
